ChatGPT for Inbound & Outbound B2B Lead Generation

ChatGPT is a godsend tool for solopreneurs and new marketers with a small sales team. It’s perfect for content creation. Using this powerful tool, you can create the ultimate social presence you have always planned for.

But, is chatGPT any good in generating leads?

Absolutely, it is!

From outbound campaigns like cold emailing and LinkedIn outreach to inbound tactics like chatbots, ChatGPT can do it all.

All you need is good prompts to scale your business overnight. Read this article till the end to learn how to use ChatGPT for lead generation process. You will find prompts that will create high-quality ChatGPT responses.

What is ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI based on the GPT-3.5 architecture. It has been designed to understand human language and generate contextual, human-like responses.

How to use ChatGPT?

ChatGPT has a chat-like interface. All you need to do is write prompts for ChatGPT and the artificial intelligence will generate (write back) the content for you.

What are ChatGPT Prompts

ChatGPT prompts are basically suggestions or cues or commands that you can give the AI to generate the content/responses/answers.

It's like giving a topic or a question to write about. The more specific you are, the more informative, interesting, and entertaining the answer is.

The best part about ChatGPT prompts is that you can ask the AI to write about almost anything and everything. It can cover a wide range of topics ranging from science and technology to history and culture.

The only downside is that your ChatGPT prompts can’t be about recent news or updates because ChatGPT’s knowledge is limited to data up to 2021

So, if you want to learn about recent updates on Google, you can’t do it using this AI. You will have to use the Google search engine.

How to Use ChatGPT

Like I said, ChatGPT has a texting-like interface. It’s like texting the AI and asking to provide information or write content for you.

First, go to the homepage of openai.com. Then, scroll down to find the “Try ChatGPT” option.

Click on that option to go to a page like below.

If you already have an account, log in straightaway. In case you don’t, sign up for a ChatGPT account.

Once you are done with the process, you will go to a page like this.

The “send a message” section shown with an arrow is where you write the prompts.

How to Modify ChatGPT Prompts for Better Content

From research articles to LinkedIn posts and Twitter threads, ChatGPT does it all. So, if you are a new marketer or wanting to develop a personal brand, then learn how to modify ChatGPT prompts to create better content.

Let’s look at an example.

#1 Example: Create a LinkedIn Post

Here, in this example, I am trying to create a piece of content for a LinkedIn post.

Prompt 1

In this example, the prompt is a very generic one—provide tips for content marketing.

It doesn’t specify

  • Word count
  • Type of content (article, LinkedIn post, Twitter thread, caption, etc.)
  • Tone of the content
  • Point of view, etc.
  • Scenario

So, the content is somewhat like an article with generalized tips.

Prompt 2

Write a LinkedIn post on 5 best tips for content marketing in no more than 250 words. Write in a casual tone and use emojis.

The above prompt has

✅Word count
✅Number of tips
✅Tone of the content
✅Type of content
✅Additions mentioned

Therefore, the response is better than a generalized piece of content. It is almost a good, ready-made LinkedIn post.

However, it does lack a few things. It doesn’t

❌explain the points
❌doesn’t specify the targeting pain point

“Content Marketing Tips” is a broad subject. The prompt doesn’t mention the targeting angle of the broad topic. So, the response is an average piece of content.

Prompt 3

I am a new content marketer learning how to distribute content. I want an informative  LinkedIn post on 5 best tips for content marketing with examples in no more than 3000 characters  from an expert marketer's point of view. Write in a conversational tone and use emojis. My target audience is business owners.

The above response is definitely the best piece of content. It’s value-adding, small, and specific. It’s surely going to increase engagement straightaway.

It’s safe to conclude that out of the three prompts, prompt 3 is the best one. Why?

✅Mentions the target audience’s pain points
✅Mentions point of view of the creator
✅Provides a specific topic
✅Mentions the type of content and the number of characters

The response of prompt 3 is most human-like in language and appears to have been written by a human content marketing expert.

#2 Example: Create a Cold Email

In this example, I am trying to create a cold outreach email for a SaaS company.

Prompt 1

The above response is an email that will NEVER get a reply. These kinds of lengthy cold emails repel customers in a blink.

These that went wrong in the prompt are:

❌Not mentioning the intention
❌Not mentioning the designation/position of the recipient
❌Not mentioning the word count
❌Not mentioning the tone

Prompt 2

I am trying to sell a cold emailing tool to Michael Scott, manager of dunder mifflin. I want to send an email within 80 words without directly pitching the product. Add an intriguing question in the subject line for the email. Keep the tone casual.

How to Use ChatGPT for Inbound Lead Generation

Inbound lead generation refers to the strategies that attract potential customers to a particular brand. Some of the most popular inbound strategies are:

  1. Blogs
  2. Social media presence
  3. Website chatbots
  4. Email marketing such as newsletters
  5. Referral marketing
  6. YouTube vlogs, etc.

Although ChatGPT can help in almost all the above strategies, let’s try to be specific on how to use ChatGPT to generate leads through inbound strategies.

Take Help in Creating Blog Posts

If you are thinking about using ChatGPT to create lengthy blog posts, you should stop right there.

Blog is one of the most effective inbound marketing strategies that attracts a huge audience with value-adding content. But, there's a catch.

Unlike Yahoo and Bing, Google runs a monopoly as a search engine with more than 9 billion searches every day. And, Google takes copyright issues and unoriginal content very seriously.

Google is known for detecting AI-generated text easily and marking it as spammy content. In the long run, this stunt might harm your domain rating.

This doesn’t mean you should stop using ChatGPT altogether. For efficiency, you must use ChatGPT to reduce your efforts in creating blog posts

You can

✅ Create outline of the blog post using keywords
✅ Get headline suggestions
✅ Research using blog post

If you want to rely entirely on ChatGPT, it’s best to rephrase the entire content or edit it in such a way that makes it sound human-like and natural.

Prompt Example to Create Articles on ChatGPT

Create Snippets for Content Distribution

When it comes to inbound marketing, content distribution is a major step. Creating content for one platform and keeping it there itself is the biggest mistake one can make.

This is where ChatGPT swoops in. It helps you to create short pieces of content that you can use as captions to distribute articles and videos as social media posts.

This is how you can do it.

Create WhitePapers, Ebooks, and Guides

In B2B marketing, “playing the advisor” is the best lead generation strategy in current times. Traditional methods like sales pitch, sales proposals, or meetings don't work anymore.

One has to nurture leads for a significant time to convert leads into customers. This is where whitepapers, ebooks, and guides work so much.

However, creating these resources by yourself or a marketing team takes time. You can use ChatGPT to create these resources without spending months of sales efforts.

Personalize Website Chatbots

Website visitors are undoubtedly the highest-quality leads. You can use ChatGPT to personalize your website chatbot and qualify the leads.

The chatbots powered by chatGPT can

  • Answer basic customer inquiries
  • Ask questions and provide tailored responses to website visitors
  • Take out personalized conversations
  • Qualify leads by asking necessary questions
  • Provide resources to visitors and convert them into an audience, etc.

How to Use ChatGPT for Outbound Lead Generation

Outbound lead generation are the sales strategies in which marketers reach out to potential leads. Some of the most popular outbound tactics are:

  1. Cold calling or sales calls
  2. Cold email campaigns
  3. LinkedIn outreach
  4. Facebook, Instagram, Google ads,
  5. Print ads, etc.

With the right prompts, ChatGPT can reduce a lot of workload in these campaigns. Ultimately, making these campaigns run smoothly and effectively. This valuable tool is indispensable for marketing teams.

Write Cold Emails

Email marketing campaigns are the most effective outbound marketing strategy. It provides an impressive ROI of $36 for every $1 spent

It’s only wise to continue using emails for lead generation. However, to make the most of this medium, you need to use ChatGPT.

With the right prompts, this AI creates fantastic cold emails.

Here’s a prompt example for you.

Write LinkedIn DMs

LinkedIn outreach is the trendiest strategy in the B2B industry. After all, the platform provides thousands of potential customers in one place.

However, LinkedIn prospecting can be tricky. You need connection request notes, cold DMs, InMails, social media content, and several other things to ace outreach on LinkedIn.

This is where ChatGPT can help you.

Given the right instructions, ChatGPT can write the best LinkedIn cold messages for you.

Write Ads

Marketing copies are mostly one line or two liners. If you’re not a professional copywriter, it can be really challenging to write ad copies.

But, we have ChatGPT. So, there’s nothing to worry about.

Write a prompt as shown in the below image and you are good to go.

The Next Step in Lead Generation: Automate the Process

ChatGPT helps to create content in bulk. Be it cold emails, follow-ups, LinkedIn DMs, etc. Once you have the content, what’s the next step in the sales process?

The next step is to create a sequence and automate the entire process.

For this, you need an outreach tool like Smartlead. It will help you to use the ChatGPT content and create an ultimate sequence.

All you need to do is upload an email list, create a sequence, and schedule emails/messages. Using B2B lead generation tools, you can reach thousands of promising leads without being marked as SPAM.

ChatGPt has taken the market by storm and it’s no secret. If you’re not using ChatGPT yet, you are wasting your time and lead generation efforts. It’s high time that you start using this tool.

It will help you create a brand image on various platforms, eventually generating thousands of qualifying leads.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
